Travel Clinic

Planning an overseas trip? At Northpoint Medical Centre Travel Clinic, we provide expert travel health advice, vaccinations, and medications to help keep you safe while travelling.

Different destinations carry different health risks. Our doctors provide personalised travel consultations based on your itinerary, medical history, planned activities, and length of travel. We ensure you are fully prepared before you leave Australia.

Travel health consultations ideally occur 6–8 weeks before departure so there is enough time for vaccinations and medications to become effective.

Travel Vaccinations

Vaccination requirements depend on your destination and travel plans. Our doctors provide up-to-date advice based on international health recommendations.

Common travel vaccines include:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Typhoid
  • Yellow Fever
  • Rabies

We also ensure routine vaccinations are up to date, including:

  • Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis

  • Influenza

Travel Medications

Some destinations require preventative medications rather than vaccines. Our travel clinic can prescribe:

  • Malaria prevention medication
  • Traveller’s diarrhoea treatment
  • Altitude sickness medication
  • Motion sickness medication
  • Jet lag management advice

We also provide advice about managing existing medical conditions while travelling.

Special Travel Health Advice

Certain travellers may require additional assessment including:

  • Pregnant travellers
  • Travellers with chronic medical conditions
  • Immunocompromised patients
  • Long-term travellers or expatriates
  • Adventure travel or remote travel

We can provide tailored guidance to ensure your travel plans are safe.

Why Visit a Travel Clinic Before You Travel?

Many infectious diseases are preventable with vaccination or medication. Travellers can unknowingly bring infections home if they are not protected.

Seeing a doctor before departure can help you:

  • Prevent serious illness overseas
  • Avoid unexpected medical costs abroad
  • Meet vaccination requirements for entry into some countries
  • Protect your family and community when you return home

When Should I Book?

We recommend booking your travel consultation at least 6–8 weeks before departure. Some vaccines require multiple doses or time to become fully effective.

However, if your departure is sooner, it is still worthwhile booking an appointment.
