Billing & Fees Policy

Our Approach to Mixed Billing

At Northpoint Medical in Toowoomba, we’re committed to providing comprehensive, patient centred care. Our priority is to give you the time, attention, and clinical excellence your health deserves.

We operate a mixed billing model, meaning:

  • Some consultations are bulk billed where appropriate and clinically suitable;
  • Out of pocket fees apply for many appointments, particularly longer or more complex consults, procedures, or services not fully covered by Medicare.

This approach allows us to maintain the quality of care you expect — thorough consultations, continuity of care, and enough time to understand your health needs.

Why Fees Are Necessary

Healthcare delivery has costs: clinical staff, clinical support systems, medical equipment, ongoing training, facility overheads, and compliance with rigorous safety and record-keeping standards. Medicare rebates alone don’t always cover these operating costs in full.

By charging modest fees when appropriate, we can:

  • Spend more time with patients when needed;
  • Support longer or more complex consultations without compromise;
  • Continue investing in high quality care, staff development, and safe practice environments.

Much like other mixed billing practices in the Toowoomba region, fees vary depending on consultation type and length.

Medicare Rebates & Payments

Medicare rebates are available for eligible consultations — and where possible, we can electronically process your Medicare claim so the rebate is deposited directly into your account.

We accept major payment methods (EFTPOS, credit/debit cards) and require payment at the time of your consultation.

Booking & Cancellation Policy

To help us manage appointment times and availability, we ask that you give at least 2 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your booking. A cancellation or “Did Not Attend” fee may apply if appointments are missed without sufficient notice.

Making Care Affordable

Your health and wellbeing matter to us. If you have questions about fees, rebates, or payment options — or if you’re concerned about costs — our reception team is here to discuss these with you before or after your visit.

We aim to be transparent, respectful, and supportive as part of your healthcare experience.
